The biggest city footprint in the lower 48
With roughly 750 square miles of land, a trip from the Westside to the Beaches can rack up serious mileage. Oil changes, tires and brakes come due faster than people expect.
Duval, Clay, St. Johns and the Beaches
Skip the shop. We come to you.
Jacksonville is too big to waste a day hauling your car across the river to a shop. Our mechanics come to your driveway, apartment lot or office anywhere around Jax and fix it right there.
About us
Since it merged with Duval County in 1968, Jacksonville has been the largest city by land area in the lower 48 states, at roughly 750 square miles. That's a lot of ground to cover with a car that won't start. Jacksonville Mobile Mechanic closes the distance by bringing the repair to wherever you are.
We work in driveways on the Westside and in Mandarin, apartment lots on the Southside, office parks around Deerwood and Baymeadows, and neighborhoods from Riverside to the Beaches. Your mechanic arrives in a fully stocked service vehicle with professional tools, a scan tool and usually the part you need already on board.
Every job starts with a quick call. Tell us what the car is doing, and a mechanic will ask the right questions, give you a straight answer on the likely fix and quote it before any work begins. If something new turns up, we explain it and wait for your OK.
What we fix
If it doesn't need a lift, there's a good chance we can fix it where the car is parked. These are the jobs Jacksonville drivers call us for most.
Long, humid summers and the occasional hard freeze are rough on batteries. We test the battery and charging system together and replace a failing battery on the spot.
Pads, rotors, calipers and brake fluid. Bridge traffic, I-95 stop-and-go and salty beach air all wear brakes, so squeals or a soft pedal are worth a look.
Warm vents in a Jacksonville summer are miserable. We check for leaks, test the compressor and pressures and recharge the system so it cools again.
Clicking, a slow crank or a battery light on the dash. We test the starter, alternator and cables and replace only what actually failed.
We read the codes, test the system behind them and walk you through what's wrong in plain English before any money is spent.
Radiators, water pumps, thermostats, hoses and fans that quit in summer traffic, often right in the middle of a bridge crossing.
Oil and filter changes, fluid checks, wiper blades and scheduled maintenance, handled at your house or your workplace.
Moving to a new duty station or driving a long way? We check the battery, tires, brakes, belts, hoses and fluids before you hit the road.
Cracked, glazed or swollen belts and hoses replaced before they leave you stranded on the side of I-295.
Shocks, struts, tie rods, ball joints and control arms worn out by potholes, rough streets and long highway miles.
Dead after sitting, stalling or warning lights acting up? We trace it down, including the corrosion that salt air and humidity leave on connections.
Shopping for a used car? We inspect it top to bottom before you pay, including for signs that it sat in flood water after a storm.
Your repair isn't listed? Ask anyway. If we can safely do it on-site, we'll get it done.
Call (904) 906-8595How it works
Car trouble shouldn't mean a day spent crossing the river.
Step 1
Call (904) 906-8595 with the year, make and model and the symptoms. We'll work out the likely cause with you and quote it before we book a time.
Step 2
Your driveway, garage, apartment lot or office all work if there's a level spot with room around the car. Same-day visits are often available.
Step 3
The mechanic arrives with the tools and parts, does the work, shows you the old parts and checks everything over with you before leaving.
Local know-how
The First Coast has its own mix of salt, storms, heat and the occasional freeze. Here's what we see most around Jacksonville.
With roughly 750 square miles of land, a trip from the Westside to the Beaches can rack up serious mileage. Oil changes, tires and brakes come due faster than people expect.
The St. Johns River splits the city, so almost every commute crosses a bridge like the Dames Point, Buckman, Fuller Warren or Hart. Breaking down on one is dangerous, which is why overheating and battery problems deserve attention early.
Cars in Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jax Beach and Mayport live in salt air, and beach trips bring sand and salt home underneath. Over time that corrodes brake lines, battery terminals and exhaust parts.
On September 11, 2017, Hurricane Irma pushed the St. Johns to 5.57 feet at the Main Street Bridge gauge, beating the 1964 record of 4.12 feet. Streets in San Marco and Riverside flooded fast, and plenty of cars went with them.
Summer days are hot and sticky, with thunderstorms most afternoons. Heat wears batteries down, humidity keeps A/C systems working nonstop, and sudden downpours expose worn tires and wipers.
Unlike much of Florida, Jacksonville gets real freezes, about ten nights a year on average, usually starting in early December. A battery that limped through summer often dies on that first cold morning.
Where we work
We cover the whole city and the roads that tie it together. Broken down near one of these? Call and tell us the nearest exit, bridge or cross street.
From the Georgia line past the airport, through downtown and down the Southside into St. Johns County.
Around the west side past Orange Park, across the Buckman Bridge to Mandarin, and up the east side over the Dames Point Bridge.
From downtown out through the Westside past Cecil toward Baldwin and Lake City.
JTB, from I-95 on the Southside past Deerwood and UNF out to Jacksonville Beach.
South from the Westside and Ortega past NAS Jacksonville to Orange Park and Fleming Island.
From I-10 on the Westside south through the Oakleaf area into Clay County.
Service area
We come to you all over Jacksonville and the surrounding communities. If you don't see yours here, call anyway. We're probably working close by.
Timing depends on the job and the day's schedule. Call (904) 906-8595 to see how soon we can get there.
Navy town
Jacksonville is a Navy town. Naval Station Mayport has been one of the country's largest fleet concentration areas since 1942, and NAS Jacksonville is the largest installation in Navy Region Southeast. That means a lot of families on the move, and a lot of cars that either cross the country or sit for months.
Before a PCS drive, have the car checked a week or two ahead so there's time to fix anything we find. We look at the battery, tires and spare, brakes, belts, hoses, coolant and A/C, the same things that strand people on long interstate trips.
Heading out on deployment? A car that sits for six or nine months in Florida heat and humidity comes back with a dead battery, low tires and sometimes rusty brakes. Before you go, fill the tank, add fuel stabilizer, set the tires to the right pressure and connect a battery maintainer if you can. When you get home, call us and we'll get it road-ready without a tow.
We usually can't get onto NAS Jax or Mayport without a sponsor, so we'll meet you at home or at a lot just outside the gate.
Car care calendar
Northeast Florida gets a little of everything over a year. Time your car care to it and most breakdowns never happen.
March to May
Pollen coats everything and spring storms return. Change the cabin air filter, replace streaky wipers and check tire tread before summer.
June to August
Heat, humidity and daily thunderstorms. Test the battery, make sure the A/C blows cold and have a plan for hurricane season.
September to November
Peak hurricane season, nor'easters and high tides at the Beaches. Keep the tank full and rinse off salt after any flooding.
December to February
Real freezes, about ten nights a year. Test the battery before the first cold snap and check tire pressure when the temperature drops.
Mobile vs. shop
You get the same kind of repair either way. The difference is whether your day revolves around it.
